House of the Dragon is an upcoming American fantasy drama television series created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan J. Condal for HBO. It is a prequel to the television series Game of Thrones (2011–2019) and is based on Martin’s 2018 novel Fire & Blood. The series begins 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones[2] and chronicles the beginning of the end of House Targaryen and the events leading up to the Targaryen civil war, known as the “Dance of the Dragons”. House of the Dragon received a straight-to-series order in October 2019 with casting beginning in July 2020 and principal photography beginning in April 2021 in the United Kingdom. The fifth season of the historical drama television series Vikings premiered on November 29, 2017 on History in Canada. The series broadly follows the exploits of the legendary Viking chieftain Ragnar Lothbrok and his crew, and later those of his sons. The first season of the series begins at the start of the Viking Age, marked by the Lindisfarne raid in 793.

The fifth season consists of a double order of twenty episodes, split into two parts of ten episodes; the second half will premiere in 2018.
The premise of the fifth season differs from the previous four after the departure of Travis Fimmel as Ragnar, and it now follows the adventures of his sons. Jonathan Rhys Meyers is introduced as a major character, after his initial appearance in the fourth season’s finale.

Citizens Of Earth from Atlus and available to play on the 3DS, PS4, PS Vita, PC and Wii U is a smart and funny RPG that is not only fun to play but pays homage to the style and feel of the great RPG games of the past and at the same time remaining unique with extremely charming characters.

You start the game as the new Vice President of the planet and almost immediately as you starting your time in office you start building your team of interesting characters. You encounter these interesting folks around the subtly designed world from your Mom to a homeless guy dressed like superhero on the street. Now the Vp does not fight himself instead he is like a Pokemon Trainer barking orderers.

Those different people you encounter is where the game is truly memorable. Some of the abilities and skills the folks you pick up have are extremely funny and keep the game always feeling new and adds an interesting layer to usual RPG stereotype characters.

The combat is very familiar if you have played turned based RPGs before. Not reinventing the wheel or anything but the game combat does what it’s supposed to do and is very simple to navigate.

The enemies you run into range from easy to difficult well as you become more powerful and the game is always a good challenge with never being frustrating. It’s a great balance but as you become better and really learn how to use the characters together it becomes even more fun to tear through enemies.

Personalty, I really enjoy these type of games and it has elements of Pokemon, Earthbound, Fantasy Star, Shinning Force, and Fire emblem to name a few. And that is some really great company. I truly enjoy gathering characters together to create a team. I love replaying these RPG games for years to come and Citizens Of Earth is on I will be playing through for a while.

Game Of Thrones: Season 1 Episode1 “Iron From Ice” Review

OK Telltale did it again. They took a franchise I love so much and brought me into the world by making it alive with an amazing story and truly understanding the world it is choosing to inhabit.
Game of Thrones Episode 1 “Iron From Ice” You take on the roll of a family of the north The Foresters that are dealing directly with the fall out from an important event from the series that I i will not spoil here.

What is truly amazing here is not the illusion of choice, real style graphics mixed with Classic Telltale style, and the opening up of the world of Westros like never before. Those are all staples of the Telltales games. But it is in the ability to create a memorable experince unlike say the Walking Dead games with little to no action and Gameplay at least in this first part. The Gameplay was very light we will see if that changes in future chapters.

With that said Telltale truly grabs the feel and fun of the series by bathing in the G R.R. Martin style. Martin even had one of his most trusted assistants Ty Corey Franck work very hands on with Telltale on this game and it very much shows! Now some of that obviously can not be the happiest of events it is GOT after all. The game really makes you “FEEL” is all that can be disclosed with out telling too much.

The voice cast is marvelous having been lucky enough to have a few of the actors from the show reprise their roles for the game. Again, I will not spoil anything but to say look bellow.

How much the choices made will make a difference as we play out the game is yet to be seen. But if the game in its remaining 5 chapters does even a bit of what it did in Chapter 1 it’s going to be a good year for GOT fans.

Super Smash Bros Wii U: Like You Need a Reason

It would be a major understatement to say I was a fan of the Super Smash Brothers series. I bought the Nintendo 64 version on a whim seeing the game in a store window then was mesmerized by the action in that game. It was a game that inspired me to bring my friends over to convert them into fans of the series as well and play for hours months and years to come. (Still to this day)

Then Melee came out and our passion continued we do not quite have the skill level of so many other people and as time goes on my friend group separated a little bit but again I logged many hours and have a love for that game. And to this point consider it the pinnacle of the series.

When brawl came out for the Wii I was rather rather excited I went out to Midnight launch came home and played all night but was never quite as mesmerized by the game style as I was to the others games in the series . Not that it was a bad game but there were a few noticeable differences. One mainly being the sound effects and just the general floatynes of characters and tripping…

Enter 2014 and the release of Smash for the Wii U. This game truly encompasses all that is great about all three of their previous entries to the series. The sheer content of brawl the competitive nature of Melee amd some of the charm of the 64 version is all evident in the title.

It seems Nintendo really wanted to deliver on its promise to give you the best Smash Brothers experience. To review smash Brothers would be kind of ridiculous. If you haven’t played the game or any of the games yet. What is wrong? Are you ok?

But here you go. It’s an amazing fighting game with Nintendo (and other franchise) characters that is kind of like a sumo wrestling match. The goals is to knock your opponent off the board before they do it to you.

If you have played Smash Brothers game before and enjoy them and don’t have a Wii u you owe it to yourself to go out and get and thank me later. Yes there is a 3DS version as well and it is cool it can be used a control option. I would recommend that one as well it is a fun little version to play on the go, but this is the ultimate smash brothers for 2014. if you can only get one you definitely should get this one. I cannot suggest or rate this game high enough this game is on

Get it now! I have waiting for for a while having bought the Wii u at Launch. At the very beginning times were tough but patience has payed off off with titles like Smash, Mario kart 8 and Bayonetta 2 all having come out in this recent year. The present and the future look great for Nintendo.

Martin worked directly with the artists to depict visual receptions that fit his imagination of what these things look like not just duplicate versions of what we see on the show.

George R.R. Martin has said this is the starting point but when his book series is complete he may want to revisit a project like this and get even more into detail. They needed to leave some stuff out to not spoil the end of the book and TV series. But there is a ton here and it is very densely written and expands of some things I always wanted to know and for any hungry fan of the world of Westeros this will fill a major need. This book is an excellent gift for fans of the series and a great conversational book to have on the table and flip though for just the images. Hi everyone! It’s John Riley, former co-host of the Issues Program and Phil has allowed me to start writing for his website again! HOORAY! Along with my livestreaming on Twitch.tv I will be able to share with you some great news on upcoming and future games for Playstation! So let’s get this going!

Around a month ago screen shots and whispers started circulating around the interwebs and the first time I heard about it I believe was on Gamer Tag Radio. About nine in game screen shots and one title screen showed up on a May 2nd 2014 NeoGAF post by NG member HERLA and the game was PROJECT BEAST. According to the title screen this was the working title of a new game by FROM SOFTWARE who are the developers of Demon Souls and Dark Souls. The pictures were a godsend and helped ease the pain of patiently waiting for DEEP DOWN to come to the PS4 in the US but I wanted more. Of course as we all know that the majority of all AAA games look quite different when they actually come out, case in point Dark Souls 2, but that did not hinder me enjoying what was on my computer screen.

Cut to present day and it’s the last day of E3 and I find out that FROM SOFTWARE finally released more stuff on their secret game!! The PlayStation 4 exclusive has a new shiny name called BLOODBORNE and I think it fits perfectly with the look of the game and it sounds pretty bad ass. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki is the man behind this and he is stated (in the Japanese magazine FAMITSU andVG247.COM) that this is not a Demon Souls sequel and is an entirely new IP. When asked WHY?? He clearly stated

“Back in 2012, before the announcement of the PS4, [Sony Computer Entertainment] originally approached us with the idea, ‘would you be interested in making a new game for new hardware?’ so this was never considered as a Demon’s Souls II.”
BloodBorne’s character is a dual wielding trench coat wearing hunter that looks like the lead character from Le Pacte de Loups (Brotherhood of the Wolf) and he fights zombie like victims of some strange epidemic illness that is spreading like wildfire in an ancient city called Yharnam.

The trailer looks even better than the stills that were released earlier, granted it is all pre-rendered scenes but HOLY HELL THIS LOOKS SO AWESOME. The trailer consists of beakers of blood, a creepy man in a wheelchair, an unruly mob with a demon dog, and then cut to a stranger in the dark gutting a monster dog (can’t say zombie or demon) with a weapon that looks like a medieval razor blade like the one Sweeny Todd had but only if it was bought at Spencer Gifts. The trailer follows the main character slicing, gutting, poking the baddies with his weapons in a montage (gotta have a montage) and then points what look like a shotgun/blade to the temple of a bearded baddie to see that he looks like he has pink eye…or a life altering zombie infection. There is a bit more after that but I suggest you watch it for yourself to truly enjoy it. With help from JAPAN STUDIOS and published by SONY thus making it a PS4 exclusive BLOODBORNE will hopefully be out in 2015 and will still look as good as we have all seen during its unveiling. I believe they are already taking pre-orders LOL (SONY WASTES NO TIME!)

This Memorial Day weekend I will be headed out to the Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington MA as part of the press covering Gary Sohmers Pop Culture Expo for the IssuesProgram.com. I can only imagine that the sites sounds and aromas will flood memories into my conscious like the canals that flood Bravos. It will bring me straight back to my childhood. Just thinking about going already has started to trigger those feelings.

I can remember the Delicious Smell of hot dogs and popcorn wafting through the whole auditorium throughout the entire day. Even after scarfing down enough of the food from the concession stand to put down the largest of men on thanksgiving, this slightly large 10 year old little boy still had enough energy to walk the isles and stands for hours on end, browsing the endless booths of antique toys, Countless boxes comic books, tables fully laden with cases of baseball and football hero’s.

I remember this was where I saw my first Fangoria Magazine an issue with The Creature from the Black Lagoon on the cover seemingly staring back at me with his black eyes. My Dad and brothers scattered through the building no doubt just as lost in the awe of their own childhood memories or future fantasies. I remember my dad with his set of cards “Cars from the Future” that he had kept since he was a kid and how he was promised flying cars by the year 2000. One brother thumbing through his full set of Star Trek cards packed nicely in his 3*9 binder and the other reading his new Boris the bear comic while sitting in the bleachers completely shutting out the buzz of all the fans dancing around the tables of celebrity and sport icons from throughout the past few decades.

This year Gary Sohmers has Brought with him to the Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington MA the Pop Culture Expo an All Star line up of celebrities for pictures and autographs and events that are too numerous to list here but of course you should check out the full line up for yourself. You are almost guaranteed to find a person or two you are a super fan of and one or two didn’t even know you were a fan of. To me there is no better way to spend a weekend than to go out and meet some of the people that have entertained me for so many years. In attendance will range from Pete Best (the Beatles) to Kristian Nairn and Esme Bianco (Hodor and Roz on Game of Thrones) to Ernie Hudson and Ecto1 (Ghost Busters). If Movies Music and HBO not your thing come to check out voice actors Billy West (Futurama, Ren and Stimpy), Rachel Robison (Final Fantasy) and Tom Wayland (Pokemon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). Still not fully sold on coming to the event yet? I know my dad wasn’t but once I mentioned to him that Mark Goodard (Lost In Space) and John Provost (Lassie) where going to be there, that was all he needed to be in. I think he was just playing hard to get but was actually super psyched that I invited him to come to the show for the day and I know that he is thinking about all those trips out to the Shriners Auditorium when me and my brothers where just kids.

Interview With Pop Culture Expo Founder Gary Sohmers

Pop Culture Expo Founder Gary Sohmers took time out of his busy schedule finalizing touches for the Pop Culture Expo May 24-25 at the Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington, MA to answer a few question.

Talk a bit about the foundation of Pop culture, How do you define its origins?

In my opinion, Pop Culture began with Mark Twain and PT Barnum … both became incredibly popular with the public as entertainment … anything that is cultural and popular could qualify as Pop Culture … so many facets that it is now all-encompassing.

What prompted you to create an amazing event like Pop culture expo?

Having produced hundreds of events over the past 409 years, the time was right to merge all the fun aspects of Pop Culture into an event that fans and families would enjoy, where you could meet a diverse selection of celebrities and spend a day being totally entertained.

What are some of challenges you have faced along the way creating this event?

The Fan Convention marketplace has become dominated by corporate events like out of town traveling events that care little about the fan and the way too numerous overly crowded hotel shows, so the challenge has been creating something different that includes technology to ease long waits in lines and a large enough venue so that everyone is comfortable … we have succeeded with both of our goals.

How has the role of pop culture evolved over time in our society and the global society?

The Internet is a grandchild and evolutionary being of Pop Culture … everything on the Internet can become popular and the comedy and tragedy, the good, the bad and the ugly, all have a chance to make a permanent impact on the world and the future … creating pop culture appears to now be as important as appreciating it.

As a kid what are some of the first shows, books, films, music/radio, etc that really moved you?

I am from the first TV generation and have seen black and white merge into color, witnessed the acceptance of records, cassettes, 8 tracks, CDs, DVDs, downloads and streaming as a progression based on demand from the market I was a part of … and took the time during the past 5 decades to study, immerse and prosper from my love of Pop Culture … I am a Disney geek and a Dr. Seuss Nerd … I am a walking cartoon and know the values of 100,000 useless objects.

Working on the Antique roadshow must be an interesting experience could you talk a bit about how you got involved with it and some of the more interesting things you have found while doing the show?

I appeared for 13 seasons as an appraiser of Collectibles, Toys and Pop Culture on the program and had fun meeting people and sharing my knowledge with the viewing public … some of my favorite appearances are constantly in repeats including the Frank Zappa Oil Painting, Beatles Butcher Cover,, star Wars action figures, Hot Wheels, and the collection of original Peanuts art by Charles Schulz.

What are a few things you personally look forward to the most at the PCX?

I will be hosting the Voice Actors Script Read and hope that everyone comes out to see/hear the greatest voices in an amazing presentation. I also look forward to seeing the impact the NAO Robot has on solving problems for children with learning disabilities in the future .. this robot is very important to me, the show and to families with Autistic children.

Weapon Shop De Omasse Review

Personally, video games with an interesting concepts are very compelling before I even push power. Something unique can get me interested in title that I don’t particularly enjoy the gameplay style but will have a warm place in my heart for what the game is trying to accomplish. This is the case with Weapon Shop De Omasse from Level 5.

Role-playing games are pretty standard these days. We all know the concept, you collect items hack and slash to build up points to upgrade your weapons, to win more battles to …rinse-repeat.

Weapons is where the game takes focus. You are that guy working at the weapons shop upgrading the heroes weapons.

The gameplay is really nothing special. I’m not somebody that enjoys rhythm games to begin with but the simplicity is addicting. I did pass the off the 3DS to to someone I know that does enjoy these type of games and her criticism was that it can be very repetitive and not interesting on its own if it was not for the excellent concept for this game. That “concept” is what truly shines in Weapon Shop De Omasse and creates something really interesting.

The concept although very uniqe just entertains the thought of wishing I was playing a different kind of game. Perhaps some sort of simulation strategy game where I was the owner of a item shop that I’d have to go out, find the items and avoid conflicts etc. Now that would interest me more. But I feel if you enjoy the nature of rhythm oriented games this is a perfect title to pick up play for a while and continue along the interesting storyline. The issues I have with it are completely personal.

Truly I’ve never encountered a game exactly like this in concept that you are not exactly the hero but helping the heroes out. I’ve been told that there is a Final Fantasy game that that is similar to this but this concept (for me) was completely unique. I hope more genres of games attempt something like this because it could really takes a tired concepts of games and add new interesting wrinkles.

Weapon shop is a very fun in-depth world with a unique story and concept wrapped around a very simple game. Rhythm games might be for some people but it wasn’t necessarily something I personally enjoyed that does not mean that the game was not a huge success at everything it was trying to achieve. I was not the best audience for a game like this. But good is good and I need to give credit where credit is due. So if you’re into rhythm games and into RPG’s at $7.99 this is a must play and something you will enjoy while giggling and smiling the whole way through.
